The cherry blossoms dropped a couple weeks ago, but the plum blossoms are just raining down! It’s like snow here in Portland. Just gorgeous wherever you go.It’s in stark contrast to the content of the news this week.
The defeat of the Manchin-Toomey Amendment, the shocking happenings in Texas and Boston, Ricin being mailed to elected officials…it feels like so much in this country is inexplicably awry. It’s been a week of sadness and reflection, shock and confusion. My thoughts are with so many who are touched by these tragedies.
….And now on to the utter frivolity that is the subject of clothing myself…
I’ve been feeling a black-and-white mood lately (likely influenced by world events), interspersed with some pops of gold and neon.
The blouse I DIY’ed by just gluing some old leather scraps over the collar of a thrifted blouse. (This makes it unwashable, though…so I have to be very careful when hand-washing the body of the blouse.) The Urban Sweetpea Double Oval Personalized Initial Pendant Necklace Max & Chloe sent me is just perfect on its own, or layered with other necklaces.
The striped bag was a fortuitous freebie nabbed from Sephora when they were doing a “Free Tote with Purchase!” promotion last week. This tote is quite similar and very affordable…and you could easily DIY your own, by either painting a plain white tote with stripes of fabric paint…or by sewing up your own from some striped fabric.
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend~
