DIY: Sequin Trompe L’Oeil Peter Pan Collar T-Shirt

Sometimes elevating a Summer tee from plain to something more requires a bit of sparkle.  Using sequin trim to create t-shirt details that don’t exist makes for a fun and unique piece that looks lovely paired with skirts and dressier shorts – and a t-shirt that’s a little more chic than your average white tee.  And it’s super-simple!  Here’s how to make your own:

DIY Painted Kitten Tee: Easily Transfer Designs to Clothing with DecoArt Ink Effects

I’ve been ogling kitten tees as of late…I’m a total crazy cat lady (except I live with my Hub’s dog…go figure).  So the best I can do is a little kitten of my very own..on a T-shirt per se.  But being as type-A as I am, I just couldn’t settle on a design I liked.  Some were too twee for me, some t-shirts weren’t loose enough, or were too short, or too pink; some had writing on them, some had ugly cats…and wouldn’t ya know it, it is now the middle of Summer and I am still hankering after a watercolor-style kitten t-shirt.  So I decided to DIY!

DIY Floral Applique Cardigan for Spring

DIY Lace Maxi-Skirt…Made From A Curtain!

No, it’s not April Fools’…this skirt is really made from a lace curtain!!

I’m sure you’ve seen these curtains hanging in people’s houses…maybe you have them hanging in your own house.  (I know I did while living in Japan as it’s standard there to have lace curtains on the outside, and patterned curtains on the inside, of the curtain rails there.)

And if you check out your local Goodwill, you can find the most lovely lace curtain panels for a steal.

I found one huge panel for a mere $5.99.  That much beautiful fabric for that price is a bargain!!

So I set about using that lace fabric…and I found a ton of uses for it.  But FIRST…the DIY Lace Maxi-Skirt, a Spring 2012 staple.  And it’s sooooo easy!  Here’s how to make it: (more…)
