Welcome to another installment of
Chic for the Week, where I share a couple shopping picks that have been on my mind lately.
Hope everyone survived (and enjoyed…?) Halloween! Now with Thanksgiving just around the corner, I’m thinking of warm Fall hues of red and brown, and a little bit dressy of an outfit for a special holiday gathering with family and friends. Here are a few things with which I’d like to pad my closet:
1. It’s now sweater weather, and this retro-style Warehouse 60’s V-Block Sweater is tennis-with-the-girls-meets-prep-with-a-twist. Wear with a pair of slim blue jeans tucked into brown boots and a camel-colored coat for the perfect Fall outfit.
2. These look like a lower-priced Valentino to me, but a pair of these Wild Diva Lounge Adora 55 Red Studded T-Strap Pointed Heels will add a dose of sophistication and edge to your T-day ensemble. (Plus they do double-duty with a prim sheath dress for work, or with a bodycon dress for a night on the town.)
3. This Red Jacquard Skater Skirt would look holiday festive with the proper pair of tights, or be the standalone star of a sparkly party outfit.
4. This Critter-cal Mass Bag in Fox is the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen! Of course you could opt for a plain foldover clutch to complete the outfit – but why not go for this sweet little critter as a foil to those super-sexy shoes?
Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

The coming Winter chills mean layering is a must in colder climbs – and Modcloth has you covered when it comes to cute (and sophisticated!) layers. Inspired by the unrelenting recent Portland rains, I put together a Polyvore board featuring items from Modcloth that you can layer together to bundle up against the weather and still look fantastic.
Pairing mustard and burgundy looks high-end and polished for work, and pops of navy and blue make it fun. Add a bit of pattern for interest (polka dots) – pair with a lightweight Summer lace dress (for versatility and texture), and pop on a pair of mustard tights to tie the whole look together. Burgundy accessories complete the look – and, if it’s extremely frigid, you can add a soft cardigan underneath, and a jaunty beret and short wool gloves to keep even warmer.
This look works on a variety of body types and ages – just add an umbrella if you live in the Pacific Northwest. 😉
See Modcloth’s other great cardigan selections and outerwear to complete your Fall layering looks!
Stay warm this season!

Welcome to another installment of
Chic for the Week, where I share a couple shopping picks that have been on my mind lately.
Autumn is now fully upon us, and I’m thinking cozy with fuzzy jackets, perfect ankle booties, and warm tights. My part-time position with Studio 3 is requiring more hours lately as I grow their social media channels and do SEO analyses of their website, so I’m also thinking warm with a dash of ladylike and a hint of office-appropriateness. Here are a couple items I’m having a craving for:
1. BB Dakota Liezel Sky Blue Coat – so mod with the center zip, made of a mohair-style wool blend (but without the itch factor since I’m terribly allergic). It would look fab with a white scarf or some dangly earrings, zipped-up for an evening soiree.
2. Love the pull-on design of these New Look Wide Fit Capital Heeled Chelsea Boots– the heel is low enough that they won’t hurt after a long day, but still high enough to make your calves look gorgeous. (Plus they look great with blue jeans!)
3. Every Now and Gem Necklace in Noir is such a statement necklace, and the perfect piece-de-resistance to a simple work outfit. I’m thinking over a pastel-hued sweater on my off days.
4. A unique reincarnation of the ubiquitous striped dress, this Chalk of the Town Dress in Streamers works both for the office, and for an after-hours office party. (The pockets are an excellently useful touch.)
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and a great Columbus Day!

Welcome to another installment of
Chic for the Week, where I share a couple shopping picks that have been on my mind lately.
How is everyone’s Labor Day Weekend going?
I am taking this long, lazy weekend to get caught up on household chores and repairs (we have a blind that fell off a high window about 20 feet off the ground, and a closet door that fell off its hinges – seriously, what’s with everything falling off lately??)…and spend some fun time with Lil Tot.
Today is the Oregon State Fair and we are going with a friend to ride ourselves sick on the Round Up and Scrambler. LOVE the Scrambler – it brings back my favorite childhood memories.
I want to keep things cool, casual and yet a little bit edgy this weekend. Here are a couple items I feel need to be added to my closet stat:
1. This Feeling Spine Tank is cool and relaxed; love the rocker-vibe it has too it. (I actually own a similar piece from Sauce I got a couple years ago, and it’s still one of my faves.)
2. Have you ever discovered the PERFECT pair of ripped-up, distressed jeans…and been completely distressed the first time you wash them and the denim rips to shreds? It’s a pet peeve of mine, since it renders your jeans ripped even further every time you try to clean them…and eventually shortens their lifespan. What I’ve just discovered about Blank Denim (and I can’t get enough of it!!) is that they patch their jeans with same-colored denim under the rips to prevent your jeans falling apart in the wash. (Plus they prevent embarrassing skin showing; you can wear these jeans to more conservative places without wondering if the rips are just revealing a bit too much.) I LOVE this extra design detail, and these Distressed Boyfriend Jeans are my new favorites.
3. Heading to the fair means I have to keep all my stuff with me, even when upside down on the Tower of Terror. This New Look XHatch Formal Backpack will keep all my things safe (and looking oh-so-chic as well!). Also, just today at ASOS.com, you can get 75% off sale items + another 10% off with code HAVE10. (Ends 3 AM EST tomorrow morning)
4. These Y.R.U. Qloud Keeper sneaks are super-unique with the Lucite platform, and maybe they’re not totally down-to-eart and relaxed, but boy do I want to try these out.
Hope everyone has an amazing weekend!

Welcome to another installment of
Chic for the Week, where I share a couple shopping picks that have been on my mind lately.
Did everyone have a good weekend?
I wrapped a video shoot for Coveroo, this cool custom iPhone/iPad case company from San Francisco. After an 11-and-a-half hour shoot on Sunday, I was pretty much wiped out yesterday! We got some awesome shots, though, and the edit is coming together nicely. Couldn’t have done it without my amazing team!
In other news, the grass in my yard is practically all dead (so is everyone else’s nearby, so it doesn’t make me feel so bad) due to this long-lasting hot and dry weather, I keep finding baby ladybugs inside my house, my backyard tomato plant is going crazy and just put out about 7,835,611 tomatoes, and I caught a glimpse of the Supermoon while heading back from the shoot Sunday but have so far missed the Perseid meteor shower. All of them, really. Maybe tonight’s the night! (One can only hope…)
Here are a couple items on my wishlist for the week:
1.When it’s over 100 degrees daily, a cute little bodysuit will keep you cool (while keeping everything tucked in and pristine. This Backless Neon Pink Bodysuit is just the ticket (and great for a hot date too!)
2.Ah, Baublebar. You are my shameful addiction. No matter how many times I go back to your site, every time I find something new that is a must-have. And these Monochrome Galactic Drops Earrings
? The price is so reasonable ($18!) and they have so many different color combos to go with that I really can’t help myself. I guarantee you won’t be able to resist either.
3.I lied. I actually bought this Re:Named Lasercut Skirt already. And it is just amazing – so uniquely chic and ladylike! And very cool in sticky-hot weather. Once the temps cool down I’ll be adding on a bit of fabric to the lining as I feel it’s just a little too short for year-round wear.
4. These Black Suede Peep Toe Tie Up Sandals show the perfect amount of sexy skin and yet still would look gorgeous paired with slim trousers or a shirt dress for a more demure look.
Hope everyone’s having a great start to the week!
