It’s been a little while since I’ve been able to do these Roundups!
But now I’m back on track with DIY Roundup 4! First let me share with you 2 pieces I recently made. I saw London-based jewelry brand bex rox featured in Lucky Magazine awhile back (below), and was taken with the idea of weaving ombre-dyed stain cord through the links of heavy curb chain to make a thick necklace.
I made two: one bright rainbow-colored, and one pastel shades colored! I can’t decide which one I like better.;-) And you could try this with leather cord, velvet ribbon, chiffon ribbon, rope…though if you chose something flat like a ribbon to weave through the links, you’d have to deal with the ribbon curling and tangling inamongst the links (which could have a nice result). You could even make a high Elizabethan chain collar with black leather cord and go goth with it! Anyway, it’s a cute little technique to try out sometime when you have a little time to kill (it does take awhile, fyi).
So now you get to share your own DIY’s! If you have a DIY project or tutorial, please feel free to link below! (However you can only link YOUR OWN PROJECT. Please do not link others’ projects!)
If you’ve linked up your project to the Roundup, feel free to grab the button below.
Can’t wait to see everyone’s projects!

Hi, could you maybe explain how you did these? Would be very kind. Thanks.
Love, love, love the pastel!
Love those necklaces. Any chance of a how to? I just can't figure out how they are woven.
Thanks for your comments!
Sorry, I'm not going to post a how-to since bex rox is still an up-and-coming brand and I don't feel right writing out a step-by-step “Here's How to Rip Them Off.” (Louis Vuitton? Gucci? Miu Miu? I got no problem with ripping those guys off! But struggling designers? Sorry; I just can't.) The photos are good enough that you can really figure out how it's done just by scrutinizing them, which is what I did. Best of luck!

Hi! I was just curious… I tried making this with some chain I had on hand, and it turned out great, but I have been looking for some better quality, heavier chain…. Any ideas on where I might find any? I want to make one as a gift and the aluminum chain just feels kind of flimsy….. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!
Hi Allison…you are looking for high-quality curb chain? I used gold- and silver-finished steel chain from Firemountaingems.com (http://www.firemountaingems.com/search/?Keywords=steel+curb) and found that that gave the necklace a good weight to it. Much better than aluminum! Hope that helps:-)
Thanks! I took a look and it appears they only have the small chains available right now 🙁 I appreciate the reply…. If you have any other suggestions please let me know…. You wouldn’t think it would be so hard to find this stuff!! Lol thanks again…..
Oh, sorry about that! Is this more the size you were looking for? (http://www.beadaholique.com/p-19765-antiqued-silver-plated-heavy-curb-chain-7mm-bulk-by-the-foot.aspx) Have you looked on Etsy? I know the other place you’d be able to find it is PandaHall.com, but it comes in from China and you have to buy a gigantic roll…Etsy might be a good source for a smaller amount. Good luck – I know how tough it can be sometimes to find the EXACT supply you’re looking for!!;-)
