jouetie double flamingo T-shirt, Tabio neon chiffon-trim socks, YOIM furfur ruffled sweatshirt
I’ve almost hit up all my favorite shopping districts after almost 2 weeks in Japan…and I’ve definitely sketched, photographed, and bookmarked more than I’ve bought (not being able to fit into the sizing here anymore helps with curbing one’s purchases!!;-). A couple happy finds include an oversized Summery-print tongue-in-cheek Flamingo tee, a deeply-discounted ruffled hoodie from one of my favorite brands furfur (originally $200 knocked down to $69-which is HUGE for furfur), pretty neon chiffon-trimmed socklets, and a whole bevy of unusual single-ear earrings.

various gold script earring cuffs, filigree earring cuff, rhinestone earrings cuff, and dangling L-O-V-E and celestial earring back sets
Now off to hang out with Hub’s grandparents, who are excitedly waiting for their great-grandson to come home from school…

OSMOSIS is a brand known for coolly casual prints and pieced fabrics. A lot of their clothing is reversible too, which makes it doubly fabulous (one of my favorite reversible sweaters ever is from OSMOSIS!). Founded in 1997, the brand creates timeless pieces, updated with trend-driven details. Prices range from about $40 for a top to around $150 for a pair of heels.
You can purchase OSMOSIS from their official online store OSMOSIS loaf,or in select boutiques throughout Japan.
So, fantasy shopping time: what would you buy?
I’m partial to that drapey beige sweater over that cool black-and-white stripe zigzag dress in the 3rd photo, and the embellished collar dress with the black-striped skirt in the 2nd-to-last photo.
How about you all?

Snidel is a fast fashion Japanese brand created by the mash style lab conglomerate [I’ve featured a lookbook from another of their brands, Lily Brown, here]. Snidel focuses on simple, pretty details for feminine clothing with a twist. Headed up by mash style lab’s Chief Designer Asami Kusakami, Snidel is arguably one of the group’s most successful brands, launching in 2005 and now available in over 60 stores in Japan and China. Price points for the pieces range from around $50 for a simple T-shirt, to $220 for a tailored trenchcoat. The brand also launched another division in 2013: Snidel Girl, catering to – you guessed it! – girls.

Formerly known as Jelly Garcia Premium Wear, The Dress & Co Hideaki Sakaguchi was launched in 2002 by Japanese designer Hideaki Sakaguchi. In 2009 he re-launched the label internationally, showing the collection at Tokyo Fashion Week. Taking the concept of classical bourgeois and producing clothing that speaks to both culture and passion, Sakaguchi is known for mixing tough textiles like canvas and tweed with softer linens and crushed cottons, incorporating masculine accents and closures to his pieces. Many pieces are gather-able or able to be worn in different configurations. I’ve featured one of my favorite dresses EVER from the brand (from when it was Jelly Garcia Premium Wear) on my blog here.

Kicking off this new series for my blog called Lookbook from ____* is the amazing Japanese brand Lily Brown, that seemed to just spring up out of practically nowhere back in 2011 and was suddenly in multiple boutiques throughout Japan, offering uber-cute, affordable clothes with a unique twist. The brainchild of the fashion giant mash style lab (who also launched the ubiquitous Japanese brand snidel, as well as gelato pique and FRAY I.D). The Lily Brown girl is retro-feminine, and the Spring/Summer 2013 lookbook caters to that vintage whimsy.
