My dear friend Lex Casciato, AKA Little Warrior, is an amazing musician and up-and-coming tour de force in the world of music. She is a regular contributor to Chic Steals, curating monthly original playlists for your to stream on Spotify, add some background music to your space, mellow out to, listen to while working on your latest DIY project, and add a little music into your life.
Here’s what she says about this month’s playlist:
You have to start a new year off right, that’s why we make resolutions, create goals, and think positive for the future. So this month I bring you my “pretty” playlist. The songs on this playlist are meant to touch the soul and make you feel all warm inside – starting your new year off with beautiful beats, lovely lyrics, and pretty vocals. Anytime you feel doubt or stress starting to creep into your big dreams, put on this playlist, and remember that every day, you are getting closer to your wildest dreams. Dream on and play on, Little Warrior.
<3 Little Warrior
Listen and enjoy!
What do you guys think of the playlists? We’d love your feedback in the comments!!
If you missed last month’s playlist, check it out here:
Described as Portishead and Oh Land meet David Bowie and the Chemical Brothers around a campfire with a drum machine, Little Warrior‘s music advocates peaceful revolution and equality for all. Active on social media, she posts inspirational quotes and upbeat ideas, spreading positivity through images and music.Find her on: Bandcamp / CD Baby / Facebook / Twitter / Instagram / Tumblr
So it’s now been quite awhile since I opened up on this blog about my hypothyroidism and issues stemming from it (including a sudden weight gain of 15 lbs). I wanted to share with all of you where I am now – almost 4 months later.
Not long after posting on my blog about the health struggles I’d been going through, I went in to see my Naturopath to go over my full blood panel results. (Funnily enough, even though I’d been seen by 3 separate doctors for my thyroid issues, no one had EVER ordered a full blood panel despite my insisting that I didn’t feel much better and something was definitely still wrong.) The blood panel reflected that my cortisol levels were extremely high (indicating adrenal fatigue), and despite my 3x per day thyroid medication regimen, I was STILL hypothyroid and my thyroid hormones were staggeringly low.
Celine A/W 2013 RTW
Around the end of Summer and for A/W 2013, the mini-trend of a shirt knotted at the waist was spotted again and again on the runways, celebs, and street-style. Harking back to the 90’s days of grungy plaid sweatshirts tied around the waist (and that iconic Marc Jacobs grunge collection for Louis Vuitton), the shirt-sleeves-tied-around-the-waist-style keeps cropping up in a more sophisticated palette and incarnation.

And incidentally, this is also my next DIY in the New Year. Stay tuned!

And yes indeed, Saturday was my birthday. And it was a milestone birthday – wherein I turned the shocking, over-the-hill age of 35.
