10 DIY Projects to Welcome Spring

10 DIY Projects for Spring crafts roundupWelcome to the official First Day of Spring!

Yes my friends, Spring has definitely Sprung…and I bet you’re itching to make some fun DIY projects to welcome the new season. Flowers, Easter, May Day, graduations, prom, baby showers, and other Springtime celebrations? Bring on the season bursting with flowers and loveliness with these great crafts:

1. Enamel Bib Necklace
Celebrating all that is flowery and fun this season, this bib necklace works by collaging charms and buttons onto a filigree backing – and painting with Martha Stewart self-hardening enamel. Amazingly easy for such a fun project!

2. Flowered Ballet Flats
Adorn a pair of simple ballet flats with flowers and lace trim to become lovely and elegant footwear.

3. Flowered Snackcessory Clutch
So sweet as a pairing to a simple outfit…or to take along with you to prom.

Surprisingly simple to make – with a huge impact – these studs sparkle with a chic, ladylike quality.
5. Florald Applique Cardigan
Take your favorite flowered fabric, cut out bits of the pattern, affix Heat ‘n’ Bond to it – and iron onto a boring cardigan for a quick pick-me-up.

6. Lace Maxi-Skirt
Repurpose an old lace curtain (and there are always a ton to be found at Goodwill!) into a pretty lace maxi-skirt for over your shorter skirts, dresses, and shorts.

Flowered barrette made of silk flowers

7. Flower Barrette
Silk flowers from the craft store make this barrette look like a flower crown adorning your hair.
8. Gold Foil Easter Egg Nails
Pretty pastels pop when gold foil is applied haphazardly to the top. Do the same for your Easter eggs for a matching holiday craft.
9. Flower Petal Top
Hand-stitch flower petals down the front of a plain tee to make it floral fabulous with only a small amount of effort.
10. Watercolor Scarf
Use dye to paint a scarf in daubs of color, leave on for a short time, and wash out for a faded, Monet-like quality.

What projects are you looking forward to making for Spring?

A Dose of Pink Fusion from Reebok Skyscape + Giveaway

reebokskyscape4
Just like everyone these days, my life is jam-packed. From morning to night, I’m going to the gym, taking my son to school, running errands, scouting locations, meeting my business partner, chatting with the girls over tea, picking up my son, and going to after-school activities (and then maybe out to dinner if I’m lucky!). Basically, my feet are two busy dogs and I usually hit my 10,000 steps daily with little effort needed. With the new feather-light Reebok Skyscapes, I can go from errands to car to walking to running around – all while supported, comfy, and stylish.

The lace-to-toe molded silhouette and unique design provide amazing comfort (seriously, you have to try these to believe it!!). This shoe is crafted borrowing the materials and soft molding process used to create lingerie, which provides all-around comfort and creates a shoe so lightweight that it weighs only 5.0 ounces. (The soft foam material in the upper feels just like my favorite molded bra – which feels almost like I’m wearing nothing on my feet at all.) I love that the shoe isn’t covered with all sorts of stitching and rubber bits and things that catch and weigh me down: the design is sleek and streamlined and looks like a hybrid between an athletic shoe and a casual sneaker. Inside the footbed the Skyscape features Skyspring technology, which is a unique design architecture designed to help support the foot and provide all day comfort for my on-the-go lifestyle. It’s just like walking on clouds. (“So lightweight and comfortable, you’ll forget you have them on” is their tagline.)

Perfect for keeping up with the dog: Pudding may have super-short legs, but she can run!

Plus whilst wearing them I love to coordinate them to my outfit – and they don’t look as if I just walked out of a spinning class or something. (They’re now my choice of footwear when picking up my son at school for the long walk from the car to his classroom, standing around the playground, and then back to the car.) They come in some fun and fashion-forward colors (mine are Pink Fusion!) and cost under $70 for a pair. Reebok Skyscapes are available for online purchase, or at select Kohl’s, Reebok FitHub, or Outlet locations for in-store purchase.

Object of Desire: Pretty Scalloped Flats for Work

Sure, they may be a bit conservative overall, but these Mazi Skimmers from Alloy are also so pretty and sweet.  I think the blue dotted print may just become my new favorite for work – and Fall 2012!They also come in a wine, black, and standard leopard-print, and I love how the girly edge looks peeking out from some long dark jeans or punctuating a flared skirt.

Mazi Skimmer, $24.90

I’ve been overwhelmed with re-designing Chic Steals…and am thinking about abandoning the dev site and just making everything live as-is, and tweak as the days go by.  Not an ideal experience for all of you guys, but doing it this way may prevent conflicts and bugs in the long run…  I apologize in advance! Plus work has been long hours, school will be starting next week, and I still have another project to finish up soon…

I love being busy but right now I have had too many days in a row being woken up at 4 AM when my husband gets up to go to work…it’s beginning to take its toll.  And New York Fashion Week is just wrapping up and I haven’t even started to check out the Collections yet!  I think the first 2 weeks of September are the busiest of the entire year…who’s with me on that??!  At least I don’t have to worry about what shoes to wear to work!;-)
