Oct 21, 2011 | Fashion, Score!
It’s now technically mid-season and clothing sales are in abundance! Though many of us are beginning to think about Halloween costumes as well, now is a great time to scoop up some fashionable finds for a deal – what with Summer and early Fall merch being heavily marked-down and pried to move. Here are a couple of my faves:

See anything that catches your eye? I’m drooling over the Alloy beaded bracelets (so I won’t have to DIY my own!) and that tweed ASOS cape!!

I always find that even when I think I don’t need another single thing in my wardrobe, clicking on over to ASOS.com always proves me wrong. I see this – I see that – I start drooling – my “how can I DIY this?” wheels start spinning – and before I know it, I start having dreams about a certain top or dress or bag or shoes (glitter peacock platforms anyone?).
I know, I know – I’m probably the worst example of rampant consumerism…but a world filled with frills and charming prints and lace and sparkly things is a world that makes me happy.

How many of us have been drooling over the chic-ness of the metallic Minx manicure since it debuted a few years back?
Being someone who loves metals, I’ve been dying to get my hands on one – well, get one on my hands, really – for ages. But the $40+ pricetag (for a set of nails that barely lasts 2 weeks) has been a big deterrent.
Now, Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips have been out awhile in drugstores here in the U.S. – but though there are glitters there are no true metals offered in the line.:-( So I was on the hunt for something similar – that could mimic that Minx look for less.
Enter Nail Rocks Nail Wraps (for a mere $11.55 from ASOS.com). (And with Free Shipping to the U.S. too – how about that?) With a little fiddling (and a home hairdryer) that gorgeous liquid metal manicure can be yours for a fraction of the cost. Here’s how to use them:

Popularized by the lovely Rumi of FashionToast…among many, many others, this Robert Lee Morris for Elizabeth + James liquid-metal-look knuckle ring was a huge hit from last year, and continues to be a strong seller from the line. There’s just something about its sleek, minimalist beauty that seems both timeless and fashion-forward, and I’ve been drooling over it for awhile now.
Robert Lee Morris for Elizabeth + James Long Knuckle Ring, $195, Saks.com
Knuckle Ring in Gold, $30, Shockboutique.com
So I was glad to recently find both a version at ShockBoutique.com, AND one from Forever21 as well. (Took you long enough, Forever 21! Hint: Just rip off the filigree from the front of the ring if you’re looking for an exact dupe – it’s affixed with what feels like cheap hot glue and comes off easily.;-)
Forever 21 Regal Knuckle Ring, $5.80
(The Stretchy Knuckle Ring from Forever 21 is also a lookalike for the smaller Elizabeth + James knuckle ring, at about 1.5″ long, and with a stretchy band.)
Additionally, I also found another Elizabeth + Jamese knuckle ring lookalike from Etsy seller snefter.
snefter Flat Armor Finger Knuckle Ring, $15.99, Etsy.com
(It’s not quite as long as the E + J version above, but not quite as short as the small version.)
Also find their YSL Arty Oval Ring lookalike KILLER Chunky Gold Finger Ring, and their Forever 21 sideways cross lookalike Sideways Cross Connector Double Finger Knuckle Ring in their store as well. Oh, snefter – you crafty caster, you! Now, the rings they offer for sale are not exact copies down to the millimeter, but they’re pretty goshdarn close. It’s obvious that the original pieces were not used in the creation of the molds this person uses in their jewelry, but still…they’re amazing doppelgangers!!
And speaking of that Forever 21 sideways cross ring that just EXPLODED in popularity last year (some people were paying $95+ for it on Ebay!)…

Find ASOS.com’s Double Finger ‘Cross’ Ring (above left) here and ShockBoutique’s Two-Finger Cross Ring (above right) here. And I just re-stocked my silver sideways cross rings in my Etsy shop, too.
My version of the ubiquitous sideways cross ring.
Any designer rings you’re looking for me to sniff out an affordable version of? Or a DIY? Let me know in the comments!

I love love love ASOS.com. Their clothing and accessories are always fashion-forward, well-designed, and their website has me drooling for hours. It was also not too long ago that the cost of having items shipped all the way from the UK to myself [on the U.S. West coast] was pretty daunting. Then they introduced their $9 flat rate shipping…but still I wavered.
All that is a thing of the past because readers – they are now offering FREE, yes, scot-FREE! shipping to U.S. addresses until September!! Is this a reason to jump for joy, or what?
The site offers so many brands (like Gap, Sam Edelman, Mango, French Connection, Kitson, Disney Couture, Free People, and Whistles) and their Fall ASOS line is just in. Plus, ASOS magazine, featuring Olivia Palermo, is brimming with eye-candy and delectable style.
Here are some of the things I’m lusting after now that I know shipping won’t cost a dime:
Check it Out Now!
(Free shipping both ways on all U.S. Orders through 8/31/2010)

Aren’t the snail earrings just adorable??
I meanwhile will be agonizing over the striped Whistles dress and the Contrast Cup Strappy Babydoll…which to get…which to get…?
