Plus there were cute swag bags attendees got to take home with them – filled with indulgences!

All in all, the event raised more than $50,000: a record year, with all of it going to charity. Everyone had an amazing time and it was a completely packed house.

If you’re in the Portland metro area next year, you should absolutely come to the event for a fun day of shopping and charity! Hope to see you there next year –

Shopswell = The Best Answer to Dynamic Shoppable Lists Ever!

Shopswell website review list screenshot
Shopswell is an easy, fun way to curate shoppable lists of products or wish lists around a certain theme – that update dynamically no matter what.

Unlike Pinterest, which is frozen in time from when the original Pinner pinned the product (for years!), on Shopswell you have the ability to integrate a product’s price so it updates on the image as the price changes. No broken links. No item not found errors. No clicking through and finding that the price is totally different from what you suspected. Lists of items that are actually shoppable – still. Christmas wish lists that are updated. Beautiful layouts that are embeddable in your blog, no plugins necessary. You can even watch videos and reviews in the interface to make an informed decision before buying anything. It’s really the best of all shopping worlds – come together in one website.

shopswell-tutorial-creating-list-1Shopswell is so easy to collect products around a certain theme. Register on Shopswell and then click on your profile photo on the top right and choose “My Lists.” From there it will bring up a list of all your Lists, along with a Create New option. shopswell-tutorial-creating-list-2
I chose to create a list based on Fall – and themed it around affordable fashion under $50 (because as we all know, that is totally my mantra over at Chic Steals). shopswell-tutorial-creating-list-3
Then it came time to add products to my list, which I did through just typing the name of the item into the search bar. When an item came up I liked, I chose to add it to my list – plus checked the “Track Price” checkbox so I would be notified if the price changed (so I could swoop in on a sale as it was happening!). shopswell-tutorial-creating-list-6
Then I chose the list I wanted it added to – and BOOM! It was added to my list, that simple. shopswell-tutorial-creating-list-4
I could also hit the plus sign to the right of the search bar and enter the URL of a product I’d found on a site on the internet. shopswell-tutorial-creating-list-5Shopswell pulled all the info about the product without me having to do anything else (no entering keywords, title etc. – thank goodness!)

shopswell-tutorial-creating-list-7
Within just a few minutes I had a cool, curated shopping list, that will live forever here – and I don’t have to do anything else for it! No commenting, no SEO’ing…no nothing. Awesomeness.

A review of the Shopswell website would be incomplete without mentioning that Shopswell’s monthly giveaway. The Shop.Share.Win Program gives away $10,000 every month (yup, you read that right) in rewards to the members who share and interact with other community members on the site. You earn credits by inviting other members to the site, creating helpful content, creating lists, and upvoting other members’ content. (Specific details on how to earn credits are here. The current leaderboard showing who’s earning the most credits this month is here.)

So what are you waiting for? Get in on the action and start putting together wishlists that will link to your picks permanently – embeddable, beautiful curated content.

Fun Fall Fashion Work Chic with JCPenney

FTC Disclosure: This post is part of a paid campaign with SheKnows and JCPenney. The opinions featured are my own. My full Disclosure Policy is here.

jcpenney-fall-fashion-outfit-4-chic-steals

When it comes to Fall Fashion I’m all about chic and work-appropriate, as I just started a brand-new full-time job where I have to look polished every day. Luckily, JCPenney is here to help, with the JCPLookbook.com which has a number of ideas for styling your fun (and affordable!) Fall outfits. jcpenney-fall-fashion-outfit-2-handbag-chic-steals

Normally I tend to dress a little more “dressed up” than necessary – because you never know when your next client is walking through the door, or when you’ll close a sale, or when you might need to go to a business dinner after work. And starting from a point of being dressed up makes it easy to transition to an evening-appropriate outfit by just switching out jewelry and darkening makeup. Dressing more conservatively makes me feel empowered because I never feel under-dressed for the situation. I feel ready to tackle head-on whatever life may throw at me. I recently teamed up with JCPenney to shop their latest in Fall fashion and put together some outfits that make me feel empowered.

Here are my new favorite Fall outfits found at JCPenney:
jcpenney-fall-fashion-outfit-4-chic-steals

Nicole by Nicole Miller Sleeveless Print Panel Sheath Dress and Kelsie Tote, FIERCE rhinestone rose gold bangle (avail. in stores)

LOVE this printed sheath by Nicole by Nicole Miller (who’s celebrating it’s 10-year anniversary at JCPenney!) – it’s a statement outfit all in one and can be finished off with just a few accessories to complete it. I added in a rose gold bangle with “FIERCE” spelled out in rhinestones found at JCPenney’s Accessories department to remind me how I feel when I dress chic.

jcpenney-fall-fashion-outfit-3-chic-steals

Worthington Black Diamond Stone Necklace, Curvy-fit Straight-Leg Pants (black)

Pants that fit well are hard to find, but these Worthington trousers truly skim over my curves and make my legs look long and slim. Paired with a rhinestone necklace and cool jacket, they’re perfect for a Monday meeting or a Friday dinner.

jcpenney-fall-fashion-outfit-2-chic-steals

Worthington Black Diamond Stone Necklace, Zipper Envelope Skirt (black/white geo)

I’m a sucker for the monochromatic look, and this Worthington skirt is super eye-catching but conservative at the same time. Looks gorgeous with a pair of a pumps and a chic Nicole by Nicole Miller handbag!

jcpenney-fall-fashion-outfit-1-chic-steals

YMI Wanna Better Butt Destructed Skinny Jeans (DIY’d with cut off legs), Nicole by Nicole Miller Kelsie Tote

Finally, for my days off, I need a pair of jeans I can live in but can dress up for a date. These YMI jeans are destroyed just the perfect amount (and really do make my backside look better!!). Find them in the JCPenney Junior’s Department.

So here’s my question for all of you: What makes you feel empowered? Leave your answer in the comments to be entered to win a $100 JCPenney gift card!

Review: Chic DIY Style Jewelry with SOUFEEL

FTC Disclosure: I was gifted a SOUFEEL charm bracelet and charms to write a review about the product. I received no other compensation. The below opinions are my own. My full Disclosure Policy is here.

soufeel-bangle-charms-chic-steals1Recently the kind folks over at SOUFEEL contacted me about reviewing their sterling silver bracelets and charms. After I checked them out and saw that they had a similar style and feel to the ubiquitous PANDORA bracelets but at a lower price-point, I said sure!

soufeel-bangle-charms-chic-steals2 Here are a couple facts about the brand:

SOUFEEL bracelets and charms are made from .925 sterling silver and top-quality materials, and can fit other brand-name bracelets like PANDORA and Chamilia (at a fraction of the cost!). They offer FREE SHIPPING worldwide with orders over $50 and a 365-day return and exchange guarantee. You can also receive a Free Bracelet with any order over $99.

The best thing about SOUFEEL that you can choose your own bangle, charms, stoppers, and decorations, to make a DIY piece of jewelry that completely reflects your style. (Or that of a loved one!)

soufeel-bangle-charms-chic-steals3I chose charms in a sleek silver, black, and crystal palette, intending them to be neutral and go with everything. My bangle is made from:

Sterling Silver Basic Charms Bangle   /  Black and White Magic Charm  /  Sparkly Brightly Stopper Charm (Out of Stock) Pyramid of Egypt Charm  /  April Birthstone White Crystal Barrel Charm  /  A String of Round Dots Stopper Charm

When the bracelet and charms arrived I couldn’t get over how beautifully they were packaged: they would truly make a great gift just as-is, no wrapping required. The charms are all high-quality and to me, indistinguishable from other brand-name sterling silver charm bracelets. soufeel-bangle-closure-chic-stealsAnd the catch on the bracelet, though a little tricky to open the first couple times, closes so securely you won’t lose anything (and the bracelet won’t slide off skinny wrists like mine – something I struggle with all the time!)

soufeel-bangle-charms-chic-steals4SOUFEEL has also provided Chic Steals readers with an exclusive coupon code to use on any order:

Use coupon Cais5 to receive 5% off your order!

Thank you SOUFEEL for working with me – I’m delighted at

Chic for the Week – 10

Chic for the Week: My shopping picks for Summer leaf print skirt outfitWelcome to another installment of Chic for the Week, where I share a couple shopping picks that I can’t stop thinking about.

Yes, it’s finally Summer, and temperatures are rising. Trending right now are leafy prints reminiscent of Hawaiian-style shirts, verdant jungles, and tropical climes. Infuse your wardrobe with pieces that work just as well as separates as all together in this fun Summer outfit:

1. Basketball Jones Ivory Mesh Crop Top, $34

Super-cute and a necessity this Summer, this top looks great with jeans or a sweeping midi skirt, and will keep you cool as temperatures climb.

2. Steve Madden Bsashaa Stripe Clutch, $58
Though the name’s a little funny to say (Bsashaa??) this pretty striped clutch is no joke when it comes to mixing and matching with a variety of prints. It can’t clash. That’s why you should have it, folks – because it will go with everything in the utmost style.

3. Japanese Banana Leaf Print Skirt, $19.65

Love this leafy print! The design is really unique, too – making this an utterly unforgettable skirt at a really, really good price.

4. ASOS Penny Pointed High Heelsicon, $57

Sultry and gorgeous, these will make your legs look a mile long. Pair with jeans that boast a frayed, cut hem for utter gorgeousness.

Steamy Summer date-night anyone?? 😉

It’s a pool party over at ModCloth, and you’re invited! With so many bikinis and one pieces to pick from, you’re bound to find a standout look that suits your style. And while you’re at it, check out ModCloth’s exploration of so-called “ideal” beach bodies in their new Swim-fographic! It’s an intriguing look at how arbitrarily beauty standards have changed over time. Of course, ModCloth knows that every body is a beach body — the only requirements are a beach, your bod, and a swimsuit you can’t wait to flaunt!
