I’ve just completed a super-fun collab with DIY kit shop Wander & Hunt – and designed 2 special DIY projects just for them.
The first, the DIY Radiant Rhinestone Belt, was actually inspired by a rhinestone belt I spied on Anthropologie.com this past Winter, and figured it would be a snap to re-create. For $29 you get the ribbon base, felt for attaching the rhinestones, glue, a skewer, and an absolutely HUGE amount of rhinestones to deck out your waist embellishment. Gorgeous over a plain shirtdress or even a light coat, this will be an accessory you reach for again and again to dress up your outfits.
For the second project, the DIY Gem Pendant Necklace kit, I drew inspiration from a Dannijo bejeweled pendant I saw on Pinterest. Again, for just $29 you receive a bevy of gems, glue, a skewer, PVC plastic, endcaps, jump rings, and a rope for the necklace. The design is super-chic – and creates a fabulous statement!
You can also check out all the other DIY kits available at Wander & Hunt here (everything under $70!), as well as all the other supplies and materials that they offer. They have a ton of tutorials on the site as well, so you can get your DIY on without even buying a kit. Standard shipping is also free worldwide!
Thanks so much to the team at Wander & Hunt for making this happen! I had a blast designing these projects. 🙂
What do you guys think of these kits? Have you ever bought a DIY project kit – and was it worth it? Let me know in the comments!
I’ve been loving all of the pouches made by Samudra: these beautiful, printed zip-cases that work so well for your most basic essentials – or that can dress up any outfit for a night on the town. I decided to create my own version of the zippered pouch – and to give it more structure, I designed it with a flat bottom (similar to the Samudra style). And to go the extra mile, I also designed my own photo-print fabric from a photo of palm trees that I took on a long-ago trip to Guam, and then edited to make perfectly seamless and repeating. (You can purchase this exact same fabric here – and it was just featured on Spoonflower’s Latest Favorites list on Friday!) Ready for the tutorial? Let’s go!
As some of you may know, I’ve been working part-time at a local video production company and stage rental house. We did a promo video for thePortland Saturday MarketFashion Show (Hustle & Bustle) last month, and I wanted to share the results.
I did all the titling and motion graphics for the piece, so I’m showing off a bit.;-)
A reader recently messaged me on Facebook about that galaxy-print fabric…which sent me into design overdrive! I then put together 8 more galaxy photo print fabric designs, and ordered test swatches on a variety of different fabrics to see how they printed.
I just got them in the mail today (obvs, judging by the fold lines still in them I haven’t ironed out…), and I’m thrilled with how they turned out!
The organic cotton sateen Alternate Blue Galaxy Print (above) I’m using as the backing to the skirt I had planned when I made my first round of galaxy-print fabric.
This is my Sparkle Star Field, printed on Cotton Poplin. Gorgeous as a tablecloth…but even better as a swingy skater skirt or pieced blouse! (I haven’t decided which just yet…)
Of course the test swatches are too small to do much with; maybe I’ll make little purses or scrunchies with them. They were more to just see colors and make sure the repeat was correct.
I had a blast designing them all, which are originally from hi-res photos of galaxies, stars, and nebulae, completely repeating and seamless. Maybe you’d be interested in using something for your next DIY project?
I’ve been hard at work on a little personal project that I can’t wait to share with all of you. If everything goes well and I can finish wrapping this up…I’ll be done and launching it tomorrow.
So many customers have requested black fur, but I haven’t found a pure black faux fur that is as high-quality as my other furs. What I could find, however, is a fur that has a midnight black fuzzy base, with longer light brown/blond hairs sprinkled throughout. It’s very plush and realistic.
Inspired by Prada’s line of brightly-colored fur accessories, I’ve also stocked a Limited-Edition Crimson fur for the holidays! I only have 1 yard of this, so when it’s gone, it’s gone! It’s of the same style of fur as my White tails, with long, wispy hairs. It’s very light and airy.
I’m now offering Puffs, Medium-sized Tails, and Full-Sized Tails in my Etsy shop, in all 6 colors including the new Black and Crimson.
Please check it out – or send it to your friends if you think they’d be interested!
