Sequin-strap Tote Bag: DIY

Yesterday was a day out and about as I took Lil Tot to see the Mini-Maker Faire; the first time ever it had come to Portland.

So in honor of the event I decided to go full-on DIY with everything: top, jacket, necklace, rings, skirt, and bag.  I was wearing [my DIY Miu Miu-print!] sneaks for all the walking earlier in the day but changed to sandals for an afternoon birthday party for one of Lil Tot’s lil friends.

I added a bandana scrap to the back of a denim jacket I found at my local Goodwill (an Old Navy jacket, actually…they have the best denim jackets!), after tie-dye-bleaching (tie-bleaching?) it and hacking a hole in the back.  Tutorial coming soon!

Nails are one coat of Chanel Particuliere layered over Sally Hansen Cafe Au Lait.

Accessorized with my favorite floating charm UV resin pendant.  I really have to post these in my Etsy – people keep asking to buy it!!

Sequin-strap tote is similar to a Gap tote I posted awhile ago…just some stretchy sequin trim hand-tacked over the straps and body of a plain tote I got from the sewing store.  It sparkles in the sunlight and throws little mini-rainbows everywhere!

It was super-cool for Lil Tot to see robots and trebuchets, Lego machines and custom swords, but alas, I was disheartened at the very few fashion-related booths.  I have my fingers crossed that the event will grow into a full-fledged Maker Faire at some point!

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend!
