I love mixing ladylike pieces with grungy, beat-up things: a sort of a hi/lo juxtaposition of sorts.
And this outfit accomplished that, with matching my frou-frou DIY Jil Sander gathered peplum (finally finished it – yay!) with some skinny jeggings and beat-up sneaks from AllSaints.
It took me longer than I’d like to admit, but I did finally finish the peplum to go with my DIY Jil Sander maxi-skirt that I shared last July. I’ll be sharing the how-to for the peplum tomorrow!
I really love that you can pair it with anything and make it look a little more dressed up. Over a pair of skinny jeans it looks super-cute; over a pencil skirt it looks office-sharp; over an LBD it looks like a part of the dress. You could even make these in multiple colors – but I chose a neon orange (I’m totally feeling neon for Spring ’12). How fun!
Paired with glamorous accessories I could be going to a cocktail party…but nope, not with these sneakers!
I won a $250 gift card to AllSaints Spitalfields courtesy of ShopItToMe.com a little while back. (ShopItToMe by the way, is a great search engine for finding designer brands on sale – they email you however often you want when you’ve saved a search for a certain brand or item, combing through hundreds of online stores to bring you the lowest prices, each and every time. They also host numerous giveaways – you just have to jump on them and participate!!) So back in September I won that gift card (the most generous I’ve EVER received, EVER!!) I was thrilled and had a little AllSaints shopping spree: I bought these sneakers (which were pre-distressed and covered with daubs of paint from the beginning!!), a pair of high heels, a long-sleeved top, a pair of jeans, and a bathing suit top. I love all their pieces and felt so special for being able to shop there!
Sorry for a couple days of no posts; I’ve been slammed with homework for school (last week I made 5 Powerpoint presentations, a 4-page website, 2 Flash movies, 7 logo designs, a rollover button, a Maya scene, a deconstruction of 5 logos, a deconstruction of 5 websites, 2 website headers…gee, I could go on and on. Anyway.). Peplum how-to coming tomorrow!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
